Kelly’s birthday cake…at 7 years old, she said she likes all thing princess and makeup. Note taken…Everything is sculpted out of fondant and then painted with edible glitter. This picture doesn’t do it justice!
My cousin Brian turned 7 in February and had a “reptile show” birthday party. I surprised him with this creation. They’re Funfetti cupcakes (pretty much any child’s favorite – and those who are kids at heart, like myself) topped with green icing and chocolate fudge cookies.
After 5 years in the Marines, my honey was finally home for good. So of course I had to make a cake in his honor for the homecoming party! Since it was a surprise creation, Kyle was banned from the kitchen area as I spent hours sculpting the fondant pieces (this was my first attempt at making figurines!). Successful attempt at marbling the colors together to create his military uniform!
Kyle and his loves, Kodi and Jack D..wait, where am I?!? I was so involved in the process, that I forgot to include myself in the cake! haha
art imitating life..or the other way around
the start of my baking blog..let’s see how far this gets…
Although I’ve never gone to school for culinary arts or design, cake decorating is my passion. Everything I know has been self taught – through the internet, books, and of course TV shows like Ace of Cakes, Cake Boss, Food Network Challenge, etc. I watch and learn! If I see something I like, I’m up for the challenge to figure it out, test out new techniques and try to master them on my own. Nothing makes time fly by faster. Nothing brings me as much pride as when I see my designs come to life. Nothing brings me as much joy as when I see the reactions of people who see/eat my cakes. i love it!
